This afternoon we stopped at the AMA
Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum outside of Columbus, Ohio before heading
further north. We all enjoyed this museum, maybe the boys more than me
😉 We are currently making our way to Detroit to cross into Canada. Last
year we thought Oklahoma had the worst roads, Michigan may be a
contender in the worst roads category 🤣
Morning coffee. We had no problem at the border crossing last night, it might have been one of my fastest times across. When we arrived at our campground, Campers Cove outside of Point Pelee National Park, we found out someone else staying here had had their entire camper searched. I’m glad that wasn’t us. Today’s agenda is to bike to the southern most tip of Canada and dip our toes in Lake Erie there. Our campground is on the lake but by the time we set up camp and ate it was too dark to see. Since Isaac thought Caesar Creek was the ocean, I’m curious to see what he thinks about the Great Lakes. We took a walk on the beach in the dark last night but they couldn’t really see how big the lake is.
Yesterday we broke up camp and went to Point Pelee National Park. This is the second smallest national park in Canada and also the southern most tip of the country, jutting down into Lake Erie. We opted to drive to the Visitor’s Center and then bike the final 2km on the shuttle road before walking the last km to the tip. This was Isaac’s first official family bike ride where he wasn’t in the trailer. Since lots of beaches in Canada allow dogs, we decided to trailer Sophie. She is typically up for an adventure, but she is also 12 years old and did not like the trailer at all. We picnicked on the eastern side of the peninsula where the waves were the strongest. It really felt like we were at the ocean, though the water was freezing! We let the boys walk with their feet in the calmer, western side of the peninsula, but we didn’t swim since currents out there are dangerous. It was neat seeing the east and west waves collide at the very end of the point. After our excursion we drove 5.5 hours north to Tobermory on the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula where we are staying for 3 nights. Today we visited Flower Pot Island. I’ll post more about that later. Internet up here is spotty.
