Utah Road Trip Diaries: Day 11 we have arrived at our campground for the week. This is the only reservation we made for this entire trip. We have driven 2,522 miles, visited four national parks, a national preserve, a national monument, two state parks, and camped on BLM land in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from civilization. Our kids have become Jr. Rangers. They have learned about and climbed on arches, mesas, buttes, goblins, and mountains. They know the difference between a goblin and a hoodoo. They have been on mountain passes and in high desert. We have seen free range cattle on the road and mule deer at dusk. We have felt the mighty wind of the mountains and desert and hoped we wouldn’t get blown away. They have been exposed to night skies much darker than we can ever see at home and had their first taste of astronomy. I’m so grateful for this experience with my family.
