Friend Friday: CDM

Another visit to the Creative Discovery Museum for us. This museum is truly a staple for us, especially on days it is rainy or when outside temperatures are too hot or too cold.

Sometimes we just go because the kids want to.

We always have lots of fun, and find interesting things to do.

The Eric Carle exhibit was still in place when we visited this time.

In the Make It! Lab, they had a table set up with old toys and screw drivers and you could take toys apart to see how they were made. Jack and his friend, Sam, could have stayed here all day! They were in little boy heaven for sure! See video above.

Have we mentioned that we love our friends and Friend Friday?

Knowing we have this group of people to get together makes us excited about what homeschool will look like in the fall.

Knowing that we had a group in place that we regularly meet with (who also happen to be homeschooling) certainly made it easier to make the decision to homeschool!

Friend Friday: Creative Discovery Museum

The Creative Discovery Museum continues to be one of our favorite local activities. It is the only place, besides the YMCA, where we have maintained a membership since moving to the Chattanooga area.

It's the perfect place to go on a rainy spring day when the kids are starting to climb the walls!

The current upstairs exhibit is Eric Carle books, and it is one of the best that they have had.

They have a section with super tall (foam?) grass that the kids can pretend to crawl through as if they were caterpillars, and so much more.

Some of our favorites spots in the museum are the Make It! room, and also the River Room, and of course digging for Dinosaur Bones.

And we can't leave without a stop for the kids to to pull a huge bubble over their bodies.

If you have little kids and haven't been to the Creative Discovery Museum, you need to. If you are visiting Chattanooga with little kids, make sure to have a day to visit.

Remember When...

Periodically {like once a year or so}, my brother sends me the sweetest pieces of nostalgia from our childhood. Today I opened the mailbox and found a package with the following note:

Do You Remember The Times?
  • We went to Canada every summer?
  • We lived at 603 King Street?
  • You ripped off the van door?
  • We went to "Splashdown" every summer?
  • You were me and Angela's mediator? Oh wait... :)
  • We lived in Tennessee?
  • We played in the snow in Sarnia?
  • I lived with y'all in NC and was charged line by line - "that's $1.28 for a bowl of cereal"
  • The family reunions in log cabins?
  • We all had your Mazda 626 and TVs and clothes and art pieces
  • Spot {our dog}.
  • Trampolines
  • Home Renovations
  • Youth Group
  • College
Inside the package was a stack of OLD pictures he had found on a recent visit home. What a sweet trip down memory lane...

Word for the Year: Reframe

For fifteen years now, I have been starting my year with intention. Last year I hoped to find contentment in my life, and I believe I did. T...
