We had another successful day with friends at Greenway Farms. This time we met up with plans to picnic. We followed our favorite trail through the woods which means stopping at the "haunted cabin" and then finding the teepee in the woods and adding limbs to it, and finally picnicking in the big field. While the mamas talked, the kids raced off to play hide-and-seek and tag under the huge oak trees. It's a great way to spend a Friday.

What is better than a warm spring day and an impromptu outing with friends to play in the local fountains?
We had originally planned on meeting at the Coolidge Park, but when we arrived we discovered that the fountains were closed for maintenance.
The kids were bummed, but we hurried across town to the Aquarium where the kids were delighted to plan in the fountains there. Honestly, as long as they can get wet, I don't think they care where they do it!
Their favorite thing is to slide down the smooth side of the cracked rock (I don't know what to call this, see video below). They would do it forever if we let them. Jack actually has warn out a pair of swimming trunks doing this, but he really loves it!
Isaac was thrilled to wade in the knee deep water and splash his big brother. The kids had a wonderful time and I was thankful for the opportunity to catch up with a friend.
Chattanooga has so many wonderful places and outdoor spaces to take children to. Coolidge Park is located on the North Shore of downtown and is a safe urban setting (if you aren't a fan of taking your kids hiking in the woods!).
We love meeting up with friends to play in the field, ride the carousel, and walk by the river. On warm days, when the fountains are working, we enjoying playing in the water too. Also, there are huge Magnolia trees below the Walnut Street walking bridge that are perfect for climbing (if you like that sort of thing, which we do!).
On this visit, we met up here on a Tuesday (instead of Friday) to enjoy the sunshine. The fountains were off, but we still had a great time riding the carousel, playing in the field and going down to the river to throw rocks. We are so thankful for our friends who are willing to get out and meet with us each week.
Greenway Farms is one of our favorite local haunts. There a trails through woods. There is an abandoned cabin that the kids think is a haunted house. There is a creek to throw rocks in, wade in, or paddle. There is a rock quarry and a huge field to run in. There is a dog park to observe other people's dogs at.
In short we love Greenway Farms.
On this visit, we followed the trail through the woods, meandering by the "haunted" cabin. The kids worked on adding to a teepee made of branches that they discovered in the woods and the boys stomped right through the middle of an enourmous mud puddle. Finally, they raced across the huge field and threw rocks in the creek.
Toward the end of the hike, Isaac fell down and gave me quite a scare by landing smack on his forward. Thankfully he seemed fine and didn't get a concussion from the experience.
We are always thankful for time with friends. We love our days spent with friends ––we normally meet up on Fridays, but Wednesday is a good day to hang out too!
And any time we can spend in the woods is icing on the cake.
We had time to kill before meeting up at Greenway Farms, so as a bonus to our day, we also went to Vandergriff Park to ride bikes. It was a good way to end our week.
